| BESCHREIBUNG |
| This book contains selected papers presented at the 12th Nordic Network for Intercultural Communication (NIC) conference held at the University of Tampere in Finland on December 2-3, 2005. The theme of the conference was Intercultural Dialogue: New Perspectives. NIC promotes cooperation between researchers and practitioners from the Nordic and Baltic countries who have an interest in intercultural communication. The papers selected for this book are grouped into 4 sections: theory, work life, education, and national identity and stereotypes. Articles in the theory section elaborate on "intercultural dialogue", intercultural theory, research methodology and intercultural competence. The second section consists of research and issues related to intercultural aspects of work life. The education section contains papers by teachers on various practical applications for intercultural education and training. The fourth section includes papers related to national identity and stereotyping from a variety of perspectives. In the appendix, students from a Master's programme on Intercultural Communication Studies summarize their impressions of the Tampere NIC-conference. |
